Smoking in a Can

Risking the impression that this blog is all about drinks.. I felt the need to share this particular beverage with you.

The Dirty Martini

Posted by toph on Nov 19, 2008

6 parts Gin
1 part brine from olive jar
1 drop dry vermouth
4 stuffed green olives

Put cracked ice in cocktail shaker, and then pour the ingredients into it. Stir, or shake, the ingredients with ice and strain into glass.

I prefer mine to be shaken with the olives.. the olives get beaten up and the gin takes a different taste. :D

Games @ Your Library.

It has just come to my attention that the Carleton Library offers students the ability to take out games.

Odd.  Unexpected.  Yet brilliant.

Borrow games from the Library

The game development stream in the School of Computer Science has a small collection of console and board games, available for borrowing through the Library’s course reserves collection.

Click “Course Reserves” in the Library Catalogue and type in “Games” in the box under “Search by Course Number” to get a list of the games being offered. Games may be borrowed for a period of 7 days, but because they are part of the course reserve collection, there are no renewals. Each borrower is limited to 3 games at a time.

There are console games available for Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.  Games range from the conventional, such as Oblivion (Xbox 360) and Madden 2007 (Xbox 360), to the highly unconventional, such as Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (Wii). Borrowers are expected to have access to a console as the Library does not have consoles available for use or for loan.

The board games available are predominantly German-style games, which emphasize cooperation over confrontation, strategy over luck, and economic management over military conflict. The games include Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, and several winners of the prestigious Spiel des Jahres prize

Oh. Joy. ‘Cause this is just what the Sociologists need.

CTV.ca News Staff

The RCMP has arrested a Canadian man in Quebec at the request of France, which accuses the man of being behind a bomb attack that killed four people at a Paris synagogue in 1980.

…Diab is a part-time sociology professor at the University of Ottawa, CTV News has learned. According to the university officials, he teaches one class at the undergraduate level.

Diab is also listed as a contract instructor in the department of sociology and anthropology at Carleton University for the fall of 2008. Carleton officials could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.

..more..

And so it begins again.
